Musculoskeletal Education and Research Center
MERC is the educational division of Globus Medical. Our mission is to provide general and advanced spine education to spine surgeons and HCP’s.
With the collaboration of internationally recognized spine surgeons, MERC conducts educational programs around the globe including cadaveric and didactic courses as well as preceptorships tailored to the individual needs of surgeons.
All courses are designed and led by experienced spine surgeons. Each seminar, hands-on cadaver lab, case review and discussion provides attendees with opportunities to gain practical experience and product knowledge.
For further details on each program, visit the MERC calendar.
MERC Cadaveric Training
Under the guidance of experienced spine surgeons, cadaveric workshops focus on innovative surgical techniques and approaches with a typical 2:1 faculty-to-surgeon ratio. The primary objective of MERC programs is to provide training and education on the safe and effective use of Globus Medical products. These cadaveric programs are taught within an interactive environment, where surgeons and faculty can engage in clinical discussions on surgical concepts and apply them later during the cadaveric workshop session.
MERC Didactic courses
The didactic programs are designed to train and educate attendees on technologies and surgical techniques in a group learning environment. This optimizes exposure to relevant surgical approaches through case reviews, sawbones labs, panel debates, and topic based discussions and lectures.
MERC Skin-to-Skin® Preceptorships
Preceptorship programs are available at various locations around the globe. These programs are ideal for surgeons to learn and enhance spinal surgical techniques through one-on-one training in an operating room environment. A unique peer-to-peer interaction with key opinion leaders in the industry contributes to a dynamic and customized training experience.
Highlights of the program include:
- Live observation of approach(es) and procedure(s) from start to finish
- Guided hands-on cadaveric training to help solidify the learning experience
